Fitzpatrick Structural Engineering, P.C. (FSE) began providing engineering services in September, 1995, under the direction of Thomas Fitzpatrick. In practice since 1965, Tom is widely recognized for his innovative structural designs.  Prior to staring FSE, Tom was president of Robert Darvis and Associates where he was instrumental in developing the firm’s national reputation.  Tom earned a degree in architecture from the University of Michigan and has served as an adjunct professor in the School of Architecture.

During the last twelve years, FSE has successfully completed many projects ranging from complex structural systems for new structures, to restoration and adaptation of existing structures. FSE has provided structural design and engineering on new projects including; Liberty Lofts, Ann Arbor, Michigan; Chelsea Medical Office Building, Chelsea, Michigan; Flint Truck and Bus plant addition, Flint, MI; and Iron Bridge Condominiums, Bay City, MI.

Historical restoration has become a specialty of FSE’s practice. FSE approaches these projects in a thoughtful manner directed towards the preservation of historical character while providing structural integrity for adaptive reuse. FSE has provided structural design and engineering on many preservation and renovation projects including; First Church of Christ Scientist, Boston, Massachusetts; U. S. Grant Residence (White Haven) National Historic Site, St. Louis, Missouri; Harry S Truman Residence National Historic Site, Independence, Missouri; South Manitou Island Lighthouse, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Empire, Michigan; University of Michigan Kelsey Museum (Internal expansion), Ann Arbor, Michigan.
